Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Please join me in my journey to overcome infertility.

Mini Vegas Vacay

Mini Vegas Vacay

My husband and I decided to get away before our egg transfer. It was also my husbands 37th birthday so we did a 2 in 1 mini vacay. Since we are waiting for my December menses to start our egg transfer, we decided to go to Las Vegas. We are not hard core gamblers. We just go for the food and for the shows. We are such foodies! We also chose vegas because it was very inexpensive. We already spent a lot of our savings for our IVF procedure, so we didn’t feel it was smart to take an international trip.

Knowing my egg transfer would be in mid January, I decided to treat myself with good food and a few cocktails. I didn’t bring my Metformin either because the medication gives me such awful stomach pain and diarrhea. Sorry TMI! Not sure if my choices were smart, but we enjoyed every second of our trip.

For those who are foodies like us, please feel free to read on. If you are planning a trip to Vegas and need some recommendations, please find a comfortable spot on the couch because I will go on and on about all the foods we ate on our trip and the things that we did. If you’re on a diet and can’t be tempted by food, exit now…

Since it was my husbands birthday, I decided to splurge on our first meal.

11/24/19 - Sterling Champagne Brunch - $250 for 2 people, plus a 20% tip - $300 total.

We had all you can eat lobster, alaskan king crab, lobster ravioli, shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, oysters, basically all the seafood and steak you can eat. They also had a dessert bar with a ton of different desserts. They also bring you popovers with a side of fresh butter. Not sure if they make the butter in house, but it was delicious! Would I eat here again? I wouldn’t. Even though it was delicious, everything was fresh, the waiters were on top of their game. The price is a little too much for us. It is however a bucket list restaurant. You have to dine here at least once in your life.

This restaurant can be found in the Bally’s hotel located in the BLT steak restaurant. It’s only open for brunch every Sunday.

11/24/19 Dinner. Tacos El Gordo. - $26.00

You’re probably thinking, “Damn! $26 for tacos?” The tacos are pretty affordable here. My husband and I just got a lot of food. The lines were so long and there are different lines for different types of meat. They are famous for their adobada, which is spicy pork. My husband waited in that line and I waited in the carne asada line. I even had to go to a different line to order carne asada fries. This place was so delicious. I would not have found this gem if I didn’t do my research ahead of time. I follow this foodie couple, Bill and Lisa on YouTube. They go to mine and my husbands favorite cities and they recommend restaurants, things we should try, etc. This place did not disappoint. They are a fun couple too, follow them if you are a foodie! They remind me of my husband and I.

11/25/19 Brunch - Bacchanal Buffet in Caesars Palace. Price for 1 person 39.99, but we got ours for $35.99 on Groupon! Another tip from my favorite YouTubers, Lisa and Bill if you are reading this, you guys are the best!

I believe this is the best buffet in Las Vegas. Aria is a runner up! They have every type of cuisine and everything is always fresh! This time I went, I didn’t see any Caesar salad. I asked one of the workers if I just missed it and they actually made me one from the back! They had delicious pizza and pad Thai. Of course I got more than those 2 dishes, but those were my fav! My husband loved the strawberry french toast. The whipped cream was mixed with cinnamon.

11/25/19 Dinner - Secret Pizza located in the Cosmopolitan Hotel. $30 for 6 slices.

I don’t think it’s a secret anymore because there were a ton of people when we went. They have this amazing white pizza which is to die for. The other types we got was pepperoni and sausage. Also a plain cheese.

Apologies for the blurry picture. I had to screen shoot my IG story since I forgot to take a regular point and shoot photo.

11/26/19 Brunch - Urth Cafe, the cutest cafe on Urth! $55.00 Located inside the Wynn Hotel. You can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time of the day. My husband really enjoyed his French toast from Bacchanal buffet the day before that he got another strawberry french toast. I got the New Yorker, which is a Ruben sandwich. Every time I see a Rueben sandwich on the menu, I always have to get it. The large cappuccinos were so pretty that I did not want to drink it. When I did, it was delicious. The servers had amazing customer service as well.

11/26/19 Fat Tuesday - $28.00 I had a mix of Mango and Pina Colada with a shot of 151. No description needed.

11/26/19 Snack - Guy Fieri Kitchen and Bar located in the Linq Hotel. Since we got a $50 food and beverage credit we decided to enjoy the trash can nachos and the lobster tacos. Lobster tacos were super spicy! Way too spicy for my liking. For those who love spice, you’ll probably enjoy the lobster tacos.

11/26/19 Late night dinner - Gordon Ramsey Burger. My all time favorite burger spot! Everything about this place was amazing. The hostess up front who accommodated my husbands request to sit at a table with good lighting. Our waiter who did not forget our extras that we wanted. He was very kind to us from the beginning to end even though we can tell he was super swamped. The food runners who did not forget that we wanted all our food out at once. The cooks who made our food taste fab! I would definitely come back every time I visit Vegas.

11/26/19 Starbucks. It was so cold we had to stop by Starbucks to get our favorite holiday drink. Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is my go to! BTW- Hotel prices are ridiculous! 2 tall cups of coffee was $12!

We watched 2 shows. The first one was Zombie Burlesque. It was a funny and very entertaining. The 75 minute show was over in a blink of an eye! It didn’t even feel like it was 75 minutes. The dancing and the singing was on point, also there was a bit of comedy. Also, the woman who sold us the tickets gave us a large discount. My husband and I are very friendly people. I believe the woman appreciated our kindness that she sold us the tickets for $119 instead of $179.

The second show was Sex Tips From a Gay Man was something I didn’t expect. My husband and I who are 37 years old were the youngest couple there. There was a lot of silver foxes in the audience which was not a bad thing. We just did not know what to expect. It ended up being a comedy, which we laughed every single minute. The show was 90 minutes and I was sad it was over.

We also visited the Neon Museum - $60 for 2 people. It was so cool to see all the old Vegas signs. I had a nostalgic feeling when I saw the Aladdin hotel sign. It was worth the $60. We also were there when Tim Burton had a little pop up.

Lisa and Bill did a room tour at the Linq Hotel. The hotel was modern and they had friendly staff. It was the perfect location. We stayed at different hotels in the past and we felt like we were so far from everything. The Linq is the perfect hotel. It’s right in the middle and I felt like it was close to everywhere we wanted to go. The Linq will be my go to hotel if Peanut is not with us. If she is with us, Caesars Palace is our go to because they have dog friendly hotel rooms which is way larger than a standard room.

Now that we are back from our little vacay, it’s time to now focus back on our SmilingPea business. Thank you everyone who supported us from day 1. We are forever grateful! If you are expecting or know someone who is, please think of us!
