Before IVF
Before we can start IVF, there are multiple things that would need to get done. First, we meet our doctor. After she does a thorough evaluation on you, she then schedules some blood work that needs to be done on your 2nd and 3rd day of your cycle, then after you need to meet with the nurse practitioner who will also send you to get more blood work.
Then your spouse/partner needs to send a sperm sample and get his blood work done as well.
My husband and I wanted to also do a genetics test to see if we are carriers of the same genes. If we are both carriers, it’s possible to pass down these genetics to our offspring, but if one of us are carriers and the other one is not, then we have nothing to worry about.
I have also done my SHG procedure and great news! My blocked tube is not dilated and does not contain any fluid! If it did, my IVF procedure would have to be pushed back because they would want me to get my Fallopian tube removed.
After the SHG procedure, my doctor did an ultrasound to see how many follicles my ovaries have. My right ovary has 16 follicles and my left over had 10! That is such great news that my doctor and her team were super excited.
I’m not quite sure what happens next. I have an appointment with my doctor which is scheduled as an IVF consult, but I have no idea what that includes. I have a feeling it’s about which IVF route we are going to take. My doctor already mentioned we would have to do the ICIS (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) route, which is more costly but the success rate is much higher. I believe she will be going over my lab results as well. I already saw my results on my health portal and there are a few things I need to work on, but nothing major.
Pulling the trigger and deciding to do IVF was very overwhelming. My husband and I talked about this and we already knew it was going to cost us an arm and a leg. We also knew our dream to buy a house was going to be pushed back. We also knew that this will be our one and only chance to do this. I know there are financing options available, but we didn’t want to go that route.
I took on a side hustle, just incase the first time doesn’t work out for us, maybe I can use my hustle money to do IVF again. For those of you who reads my blogs, you’ll notice I have an amazon product listed in my blog. You’ll see a “Buy on Amazon” button. Like this..
Well if you click this button, it will bring you to my product listing on the amazon website, which is connected to my amazon link. You do NOT have to buy that product. You can just search on whatever you want to buy and once you check out, amazon gives me a percentage. 100% of my profit will strictly go to my IVF. So if you want to help me out, please remember to use my link. It doesn’t cost you a thing and plus who doesn’t like shopping on amazon?
