Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Please join me in my journey to overcome infertility.

It’s here!

It’s here!

Time is flying by! I can’t believe my medications are here! In a blink of an eye, I’ll probably be drugged up getting my eggs taken out! Then boom! Implantation!

Well not exactly. My husband and I opted in to do biopsies on all of the fertilized eggs. We don’t know how many that will be until my procedure, but it will take weeks after the removal and fertilization.

When I opened my box, I was overwhelmed! Not sure why there are different types of needles for each medication, but now I gotta figure this shit out. It even looks like I have to put them together. Ugh!

I emailed my nurse who is my IVF go-to wondering if she can help me and walk me through each injection. She has gone over this with us before, but that was a while back before we knew we had to postpone our IVF procedure because of our up coming vacations. If I still can’t figure it out, I may be having to drive to Palo Alto everyday for them to just do it for me. Anyone here from the Bay Area, east bay preferred that has gone through IVF or in the medical field that can come over and help? My husband is in the medical field, but he’s as nervous as I am. Plus, I know it’s probably different doing it to someone you know, rather than a stranger., perhaps?

What was in my package?

Well the first thing I saw when I opened my package was a cooler that said refrigeration required. Okay, my Follistim must be in there! Yup! 2400iu of Follistim.

Then there was a clear bag with my Menopur medication with the appropriate amount of syringes.

Then another box of just a Follistim pen. I would need to figure out how to put in the medication cartridge inside the pen.

Then there was my box of my Lupron medication with alcohol swabs, and more syringes. At this point, my stomach was starting to twist from having to understand each one and how to do it. I felt a little nauseous, but then I remembered you can learn anything on YouTube!

Another box contained a Sharps container which I will have to dispose my used needles in.

Then my Trigger injection was at the very bottom. This is to be taken only one time. After the Trigger shot, the retrieval will happen 35 hours after.

I added a few things to my photo which is a necessity to me and things that mean a lot to me.

  1. My prenatal vitamins.

  2. Medications I picked up from my local pharmacy which were not injections. BC pills, Dexamethasone, and my antibiotic I have to take before my retrieval.

  3. A picture of the Pope and a rosary that was blessed by the Pope in Vatican City. (I will write about my faith and my decision on why I decided to do IVF on another blog.)

  4. Lastly, I had to add in my burp cloths.

Trying to get my mind off things, my husband and I kept busy. He helped me soothe my soul by creating items together that we would use for our little one when the time comes. He even inspired me to create a blog and let me write whatever I’m feeling in hopes to inspire and help others who are going through the same thing.

If anyone reading this expecting a child or know of someone who is, please support our small amazon business by purchasing a burp cloth by clicking the link below. All amazon affiliated profits will strictly go to any other IVF treatments in the future. All of the profit from sales will go to creating more environmental friendly baby products in the future. Also, it will mean a lot if you followed @smilingpea on IG.

We have two products live on Amazon, which is listed below.
