Giving Back
The St. Jude 5k Run was last Saturday (9/28). It was a little different. Usually when we sign up for a running event, we get there during the time everyone is pumped and hanging out at the START line. Today, I’m signed up, but got there before registration.
As you can see, we are not wearing any active wear during this run, sure we look comfortable, but this time we signed up to work behind the scenes. I was low key jealous because I’ve done about 30 half marathons and marathons in my lifetime and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them. Also training for them was also enjoyable since my husband was the one who was training me. This time I was not running in the event. So when I heard the buzzer go off and the people started running, I couldn’t help but think of when I used to be a runner.
Ever since we started SmilingPea as a business, we were lucky to get sales every single day since the first day it went live on Amazon. My husband and I are already blessed with really great jobs, which we are still currently working at, so the profit from SmilingPea sales allows us to give back. Also, having almost 5k followers on my @mywishingpeanut Instagram gives us the opportunity to spread the word about this amazing organization.
After back and forth conversations with St. Jude, we are very fortunate to say WE ARE NOW PARTNERS with St. Jude! We have a “Set Your Own,” fundraising plan and our choice was to donate a percentage on every SmilingPea unit sold to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Also, they have created a unique link so our followers can click to make a donation to St. Jude directly. Our partnership will take on effect TODAY, October 1st, 2019.
I know there are a lot of amazing charities out there so it was very hard to chose which one to pick. We decided on St. Jude because Chris and I do not have kids of our own, but I believe someday we will. We are also fortunate to have 20+ nieces and nephews. I do believe in miracles and I also believe that if we all did something for a great cause, great things will happen. If all of these organizations out there had the funds to do research, I believe we can find cures for everything.
